This IDC study presents data and analysis from the Information Society Index (ISI), which combines 15 variables arranged in four infrastructures to calculate and rank nations in one overall index and four subindexes. The index and subindexes establish a standard by which all nations are measured according to their ability to access and absorb information and information technology.
"A clear correlation exists between levels of government and business corruption and the advancement of information access and usage. In societies with endemic corruption, there are lower levels of local innovation and lower levels of foreign investment. Corruption can put a stranglehold on local enterprise, preventing the development of a local industry that would otherwise develop the products and services to deliver richer content and information access to the population." - Stephen Minton, VP, Worldwide IT Markets
